Lord God answer my prayers I ask, I plead

Give me my needs, my wants, my desires, my greed.

I ask not only for my daily bread

But for everything in that magazine I read.

Make me popular with lots of friends

So my insecurities, pride and power never end.

Send me anonymous cheques in the post

When I’m drowning in credit card debt the most.

Give me a fancy title and office with my prestigious job

And let none hear me when loneliness makes me sob.

Give me people to love, gift and hug me

But don’t let them behind my masks to look or see.

Remind the whole world that it revolves around this one

The most favourite of all your daughters and sons.

Quickly God give me all these things I desperately seek

So answer my prayers Lord, I pray, I plead.

Lord God answer my prayers I ask, I plead

Let me be your answer to those who cry out to you in need.

I ask only for my daily bread

So I may share my blessings with others instead.

Help me reach out to all as dear friends

To show them your love that never ends.

I’ll write anonymous cheques to send in the post

If you give me the addresses of those who need it most.

Give me a chance to serve you and others in every job

To bring comfort and courage to hearts that sob.

Give me people to love, hug and come alongside

And bring them out from behind the masks that hide.

Let me remind the world it revolves around One

The Creator, Saviour, Redeemer, God’s Son.

Being used by you Lord is all I seek

So answer my prayers Lord, I pray, I plead.
