Love Hearts from Heaven

It’s Monday morning and I’m rushing out the door, down the stairs, across the grass, down the drive way, to the car, rushing to work… when I notice that there is a carpet of red love hearts all down the driveway, right up to the car door. Mostly these little love hearts are various shades of red, some have a bit of green, some a bit of yellow or orange. Different sized hearts, each lovingly, uniquely fashioned, gently placed. Creating a red carpet of love on the very ground I walk over every day.

It was almost as if God had created a special message in red love hearts to say “I love you, I love you, I love you” over and over and over. As I stopped for a few moments to enjoy it and thank Him, I realised that He loves me more than all the hundreds of leaves that lay there making up this red runway of love.

I’ve lived in this house for over seven years and don’t think I’ve ever noticed that the leaves from that particular tree are heart shaped before. Obviously they have fallen every year of those seven years, and I’ve parked in that spot during the leave falling season before, I just hadn’t stopped long enough to see them.

I’ve observed over the years that God sends many messages of love to us through nature every single day, gorgeous rainbows, perfect sunsets, gentle breezes to cool us down on hot days, heart shaped leaves strewed with love at our feet – we just rarely take time to stop long enough to both read these love notes and to thank Him for them.

So as you go about your day open your eyes, look around you, listen for those love notes God has placed in nature around you. Take a moment, breathe in His love, feel His love, and then take a moment to love Him back in a pray of thanks – God will like that.
