Thankful Friday

The water filter at work is broken. It’s be broken about 3 work hours now. And I’m thankful. I miss having the icy water and boiling water on tap. I’m very, very grateful that right next to the broken tap is another tap with room temperature but clean water and a microwave. I know that millions of people walk miles to access unclean, unsafe water that will make them and their children sick. Today I’m thankful for a broken tap as it reminds me of the many, many small blessings in my world.

At times gratitude springs forth from our hearts and thankfulness flows from our lips. Other times it takes sheer will power to be thankful as we struggle with grief, anger, injustice and jealousy. The Bible clearly tells us that thankfulness is the will of God for us.

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

If you’re ever wondering what God’s will for you is, start here, with thankfulness. Whatever you are going through today, whether thankfulness is spontaneous or a determined act of obedience, it is important. So join me in making this Thankful Friday.

Simply start by choosing 3 things (or more) that you are thankful for and share them with us in the comments below.

This Thankful Friday I’m thankful for:

  • Reverse cycled air conditioning
  • Clean drinking water
  • The spendorous variety of colours of spring

How about you?

  2. I’m thankful for:
    ¤ peace
    ¤ freedom from persecution
    ¤ life
A friend made me aware the other day just how fortunate we are here in Australia compared to the majority in Africa. For that I am also thankful.

    • We have so much to be thankful for, especially here in Australia. Thanks for the reminder.

Today I am thankful for air con as it’s going to hit over 30 degrees and I know that the majority of the world doesn’t have access to this luxury.

  3. Things to be thankful for: Look around – everything. Oops; Eyesight. What was that you say? Oops again; Hearing. A little boy who had been deaf from birth received his hearing the other day in a meeting I was in… WOA! THANK YOU LORD! Now that makes me feel good. Oops a third time; Emotions.

It seems the list of things to be thankful for goes on and on.

    God is good.

    • God is good – all the time! That is so exciting about that boy! Reminds me of the man who was blind from birth so that God’s glory could be revealed when Jesus reached out and healed him.

Eyesight, hearing, emotions – great list. Although I’m only thankful for emotions when I feel good 😉

  4. I am thankful for:
    1. 2 amazing healthy boys that I get to me mum to
    2. Our government, who think its important to financially support those with low/no income
    3. Friends who listen to my worries without judgement and pray for me
